Ghana’s electricity supply has been fully restored after a major system disruption, with all generation units now back in service and the national grid stabilised.
Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor announced the development, describing it as the result of intensive round-the-clock work by engineers and technical teams across the energy sector.
“Mission accomplished. All generation units are now back in service,” he stated, noting that the restoration effort came under challenging conditions but was successfully managed through coordinated emergency response measures.
He explained that engineers, technicians and emergency response teams worked continuously to restore power and stabilise the system following the disruption, which had affected parts of the national grid.
The Minister expressed appreciation to the leadership and staff of the GRIDCo, VRA, and Electricity Company of Ghana, as well as other supporting agencies whose coordinated efforts ensured the swift recovery of the system.
He praised the dedication and discipline of sector workers, saying the outcome demonstrates Ghana’s capacity to respond effectively under pressure.
“This moment shows that even under pressure, Ghana can rely on the strength and skill of its people,” he said.
The Minister concluded by commending the engineers and energy sector workforce, expressing gratitude and calling for continued commitment to sustaining stability in the national power supply.
