Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is set to visit the Kintampo water falls this afternoon.

The Vice President left Accra to visit the families of the victims and other injured persons who were trapped in the tragedy that occurred at the water falls leading to the death of eighteen persons.

The dead were mostly students from the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School and the University of Renewable Energy who were on an educational trip to the tourist site.

The disaster is a second of such unfortunate occurrence barely a year after the infamous Metro Mass Transit (MMT) accident which claimed over 50 lives.

Coincidentally, Sunday’s storm disaster is about 100 meters away from the scene where the Metro Mass bus had a head-on collision with a truck carrying tomatoes traveling from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso heading to Accra on February 17, 2016.

Tourism Minister, Catherine Afeku and other government officials are already at Kintampo to console the families of the victims.
