Jamil Maraby is set to be officially unveiled as President of the Marketing Committee of WAFU Zone B on May 9, 2026, during a ceremony at the organisation’s headquarters in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The event represents a key step in the restructuring of the sub-regional football body, following the formal establishment of its committees aimed at improving governance and operational efficiency.
Maraby’s appointment, confirmed in December last year, underlines WAFU Zone B’s confidence in his capacity to drive its commercial and marketing agenda. The decision was ratified during the 18th Ordinary General Assembly of WAFU Zone B held in Rabat, Morocco.
The newly created Marketing Committee is the first of its kind within the zone, designed to strengthen its commercial operations, improve visibility, and enhance the marketability of its competitions and development programmes.
Maraby will work alongside Abdoulaye Diabaté of Côte d’Ivoire and Tiendrebeogo Jérôme of Burkina Faso as committee members. The team will focus on developing marketing strategies, attracting sponsorships, and securing commercial partnerships to support WAFU Zone B’s activities.
A respected figure in sports marketing across the region, Maraby currently serves as Director of Marketing at the Ghana Football Association, where he has been instrumental in securing major sponsorship deals and partnerships that have boosted the commercial value and financial stability of Ghanaian football.
His elevation is widely seen as a significant boost for WAFU Zone B, with expectations that his leadership will help unlock new revenue opportunities and strengthen the branding of the organisation’s competitions across West Africa.
