The site designated for the government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy market project has officially been handed over to the Adaklu Waya District Assembly in the Volta Region for the commencement of developmental activities.
The handing-over ceremony for the 20-acre land, donated by the Adaklu traditional authorities, brought together chiefs, assembly officials, opinion leaders, and residents, marking a significant step toward the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy initiative in the district.
Speaking to Adom News at the event, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Adaklu Waya and Dean of MMDCEs in the Volta Region, Jerry Yaw Ameko, described the project as a major opportunity to boost local economic activities, create jobs, and improve trading conditions for residents in the district and surrounding communities.
According to him, the market project is expected to enhance commercial activities by providing a modern trading environment that will enable businesses to operate beyond regular working hours.
He noted that the initiative forms part of broader national efforts aimed at promoting productivity, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth.
Mr Ameko expressed appreciation to the government and all stakeholders who contributed to securing the land and facilitating the successful handover of the site.
He further called on community members to support the initiative and cooperate with authorities throughout the construction period to ensure the successful completion of the project.
The DCE assured residents that the assembly would work closely with contractors and community leaders to ensure the smooth execution of the market project.
Traditional leaders and residents who attended the ceremony welcomed the development and expressed optimism that the project would bring socio-economic transformation to the area, particularly for traders, farmers, and the youth.
The Adaklu Waya District Presidential 24-Hour Economy Market is expected to be completed within 24 months.
