Nigerian singer Peter Okoye of the defunct music duo PSquare, has found himself at the centre of another public exchange with his twin brother Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy.
The latest row was ignited after Peter made a controversial tweet questioning the essence of Nigerian language. Responding to a netizen on why he speaks French with his children, he responded, “Who Naija language help?”.
Peter has since apologised for the statement after it sparked backlash, insisting that he never intended to disrespect Nigerian languages or culture.
However, in his response, he also accused Paul of using the controversy as another opportunity to attack him, claiming his twin brother had repeatedly joined public criticism against him.
Peter called out Paul for “jumping on the bandwagon” whenever he faced backlash.
He further referenced previous disagreements between them, including what he described as moments where Paul allegedly mocked him publicly.
Declaring that he would no longer remain silent, Peter wrote: “No more Mr. Nice Guy. It’s aura for aura, Egusi for Egusi, Oha for Oha.”
The latest comments have reignited conversations around the long-standing tension between the brothers, whose partnership as PSquare produced some of Africa’s biggest hits before their split.
The duo, once celebrated as one of Africa’s most successful music acts, have had a strained relationship since their breakup, with occasional public exchanges keeping fans talking about the state of their brotherhood.
