Engr. Amekah Nestor Edem Kwasi has been inducted as a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology Ghana (IET-GH) at the Institution’s 17th Induction Ceremony, in recognition of his professional contribution, experience and commitment to the engineering and built-environment sectors.
The prestigious induction formed part of a ceremony at which more than 130 engineers were inducted into the engineering profession under the theme “Engineering Ghana’s Future: Innovation, Integrity and Sustainable Development.”
For Engr. Amekah, the elevation to Fellow represents more than a professional milestone. It is a recognition of more than two decades of dedicated service in construction, civil engineering, physical planning, technical drafting, mediation, and community development.
A Career Built on Experience and Professional Excellence
Engr. Amekah Nestor Edem Kwasi is a civil engineer, professional mediator, draughting technician, and Planning Technician with over 20 years of professional experience in the construction and planning industry.
His career has been defined by versatility and a strong practical understanding of the built environment.
Over the years, he has gained extensive experience in construction and civil engineering works, physical planning, technical drafting, mediation, and the preparation of planning schemes using various software applications.
He spent 13 years with Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), Ho, where he built significant professional experience in construction and related technical works.
He currently serves as a Principal Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant at the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority (LUSPA).
His professional journey reflects a commitment to combining technical knowledge with practical solutions to address the evolving needs of Ghana’s construction, planning and development sectors.
Academic and Professional Foundation
Engr. Amekah’s professional accomplishments are underpinned by a strong academic and technical foundation.
He holds an MSc. in Construction Management and a BSc. in Construction Technology and Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He also holds a Diploma in Architecture from KNUST, as well as Construction Technician I, II and III qualifications.
In addition to his engineering credentials, he is a Professional Mediator, with affiliations including CCG, MCRC and FIAPRE-Sunyani. His multidisciplinary training has equipped him with the ability to approach construction and planning challenges from both technical and conflict-resolution perspectives.
Leadership Beyond the Workplace
Beyond his technical responsibilities, Engr. Amekah has distinguished himself through professional leadership and service.
He has served as Acting Head of Physical Planning in Jasikan, providing leadership in physical planning and development-related activities.
Within the Institution of Engineering and Technology Ghana, he has served as the Volta and Oti Regional Representative, Vice Chairman of the Eastern Sector, and a member of the Welfare Committee.
He also serves as Chairman of the Volta and Oti Planning Technician Association, further demonstrating his commitment to professional development and the advancement of practitioners within the built-environment sector.
These leadership roles have provided opportunities for him to contribute not only through his technical expertise but also through mentorship, collaboration, and professional advocacy.
Championing TVET, STEM and Community Development
