Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has completed repairs on a damaged 500mm-diameter main pipeline, leading to the restoration of water supply to several communities in Western Accra.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, August 29, the company said the pipeline was damaged during excavation works carried out by AVERCO Construction Ltd.
The damage resulted in a temporary disruption of water supply to a number of communities, including Mallam, Darkuman, Nshorna, Machetato, Korle Bu, Mamprobi, Dansoman Township and Chorkor.
GWL said its engineers and technical personnel worked around the clock to fix the damaged section of the pipeline and restore supply to the affected areas.
Despite the restoration, the company cautioned that some customers could continue to experience low pressure or intermittent water flow as the distribution network gradually returns to normal operating levels.
The company has therefore appealed to residents to exercise patience and allow some time for the water pressure to stabilise fully.
GWL Management expressed appreciation to affected customers for their patience and cooperation throughout the repair exercise and also acknowledged the support of other stakeholders in facilitating the timely completion of the work.
Customers who continue to experience difficulties with their water supply have been advised to contact GWL through its official communication channels for assistance.
