A flagbearer hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, has said he will vacate the Jubilee House to the party headquarters if elected president.
He said that will enable him to make time for party members.
Dr Spio-Garbrah said members of the NDC often complain of their inability to have access to leadership in government when the party is in power. According to him, this disrupts the cordiality between party members and leadership, resulting in apathy during elections.

Speaking on Adom FM’s current affairs show Burning Issues on Monday January 28 2019, Dr. Spio-Garbrah said “ability to have access to your leaders is very important to all human beings and the secret to that problem is for you the President to vacate from the Jubilee House to the party headquarters maybe once in a week.”
“This wisdom is not mine, but Kwame Nkrumah’s wisdom. When Kwame Nkrumah was using the Jubilee House, he used to go to the party [CPP] headquarters once in a week normally Tuesdays in the building which is currently the Ministry of Information where I worked as Minister of Communication because if you don’t go and sit there, they will chase you at the [Jubilee House[,” he added.
The former Trade and Industry Minister under the erstwhile John Mahama government further indicated that the NDC headquarters has a special place assigned to the leader of the party including the President which will serve a better purpose for meeting party members.

He believes the exercise will reduce the number of people that troop to the seat of the presidency daily.
On the petition by himself and five out of the seven aspirants their perceive anomalies with the electoral roll for the forthcoming flagbearer primary, the former Communications Minister said it is not about some personalities in the race but adhering what is right in the electoral process.

He said the executives of the party should ensure the right processes are followed for a free and fair election “because if you are not elected through a free and fair process, then your credibility is tainted and if they [party executives] insist we go by what we [the six] are opposing which is senseless, there are laws in this country and there are so many options opened to the aspirants and court is one of them.”
The six, Alban Bagbin, Nurudeen Iddrisu, Sylvester Mensah, Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Goosie Tanoh and Prof Joshua Alabi, want the Election Committee of the NDC to furnish each one of them with an electoral roll bearing the photographs of all the delegates by their names.
