Two police officers have been shot within the space of 24 hours, forcing the Inspector-General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh, direct speedy investigations into their deaths.

The two officers were killed in separate incidences – Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region and Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region between 6:00 pm of Monday 19th August 2019 and 6:00 am of Tuesday 20th August 2019, respectively.

Meanwhile, Police hierarchy is proceeding to meet families of the deceased officers to commiserate with them.

Personnel of the affected Police Commands will also be engaged.

The Police administration also warned of dealing with anybody or group of people who attack police officers while assuring the general public that they will continue to protect law-abiding citizens and residents in accordance with its constitutional mandate.

A statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Supt Shiella Abayie-Buckman, encouraged anybody with information related to the killing/death of the officers to report to the nearest Police Station or call the emergency toll free numbers 191 and 18555.
