Menzgold customers

Customers of defunct Menzgold are warning that defreezing the account of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Appiah Mensah, also known as NAM 1, will be a recipe for disaster.

They are convinced the embattled businessman might empty the account even before the state gets access to it.

An aggrieved customer, Mahamudu Salifu, made the appeal on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Tuesday after NAM 1 called on the government to defreeze his account to enable him pay customers.

In his first public address after nine months, the Menzgold CEO appealed to the government to help him retrieve 39 million dollars with a Dubai based company, Horizon Royal Diamond in order to pay his customers.

But, Mr Salifu is certain customers will not get their monies even if all properties are released to NAM 1.

He cited how the management of Menzgold promised to pay 15 percent of their monies and pay the rest in 90 days which never saw the light of day to buttress his point.

Rather, the aggrieved Menzgold customer wants the government to set up a committee, identify properties and bank accounts of NAM 1 both home and abroad to settle the debt of customers.

“At this point, the welfare of the customer should supersede everything so government should ensure we get our monies,” the aggrieved customers stressed.

He said they were very disappointed after the press conference because they were expecting the business mogul to assure them of prompt payments but he rather came to play on their emotions.

“We were very disappointed in NAM 1. We expected him to give us timelines about when to get our monies but he rather came to give us false hope,” he bemoaned.

He appealed to the government to take over the matter and settle it amicably or face their wrath.
