Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has described his side’s victory over Bibiani Gold Stars as a major boost in their push for the Ghana Premier League title.

The top-of-the-table clash on Sunday, May 3, at the TNA Stadium saw the Yellow and Mauve outfit secure a convincing 2-0 win, extending their lead over their nearest challengers to five points.

Speaking after the match, Tanko admitted the result brought much-needed relief as the season approaches its decisive phase.

“When you beat an opponent who is behind you, it’s a relief. We are now four games to go, and we are ahead, so we are looking forward. We needed the three points today,” he said.

“We wanted to score more, but what was important was the three points,” Tanko added.

Despite the advantage, the Medeama coach cautioned that the title race is far from over, stressing the need for focus in the remaining fixtures.

“The four remaining matches won’t be easy. We are going to prepare very well. We want to win the league, and so definitely we need to keep fighting,” he added.

Medeama now shift attention to their next assignment against Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, with kick-off set for 3:00 pm.
