Outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Assin Central constituency has opened the Pandora’s Box on what led to the suspension of the agreement with Power Distribution Services by the government.
Kennedy Agyapong claimed some NPP members, who promised to buy shares in the company to help them raise the stated capital, failed to do so.

His revelation contradicts government’s explanation that the PDS agreement was suspended due to breaches in securing the guarantee.
The Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu made the issue murkier when he alleged that there was fraud in the PDS transaction.
But, Mr Agyapong on NET 2 TV‘s morning show, ‘Dialogue’ said the NPP members who are the supposed majority shareholders are to blame for the PDS fiasco.

“Ask the 51% Ghanaian shareholders how much have they paid? It is Ghana first and they should take the 51% from the Ghanaians until they bring their money. You can’t tell me you have spread it for five years but for the first year you run PDS for five months and you have not paid a dime. What is your definition of a shareholder?” he asked.

Mr Agyapong said he does not care if his revelation will negatively affect the image of the government and NPP because for him “it is Ghana first.
“You can kill me today but I tell you… they should take the 51% from them, they haven’t paid any dime, read my lips,” he fumed.
