Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has rescued a policeman who almost went blind.
According to him, the police officer (name unknown) needed GH¢5,000 to save him from becoming blind permanently but his superiors were unwilling to help him with part of the money until he reached out to him.

Describing the situation as very worrying, he indicated that he received a call from an unknown phone number, with the one on the phone pleading for medical assistance to save his sight.
“I had a call from one police officer who told me he needed money to undergo surgery because he was told that he will go blind if he doesn’t undergo the surgery by Tuesday. He told me had only GHC 3,000 and left with GHC 5,000 and I instructed him to go to the doctor and tell him I will pay the money by Monday and this morning I am going to pay the money” he said on Accra-based Net 2 TV.
The Maverick lawmaker wondered why junior police officers have been taken for granted by their subordinates, saying the phenomenon is the bane of the service.

Mr Agyapong believes the lack of protection for the junior ranks in the Police Service is the cause of the numerous deaths of officers and corruption in the service.
“I don’t blame them; rather, I blame the senior ones because they have become careless and have taken the junior ones for granted. A police officer who has risen to chief inspector cannot even afford a surgery.

He continued that “The officer has undergone the surgery and has called to inform me but he is unable to come himself because of the surgery. It’s very sad” he said.

  1. The way the insecurity is deepening in our country today no one will from heart go to police today to sacrifice his part. There’s an attack and the police man started running only to save his life too and so being nothing tells us that we are secured but go to flag staff house and see for yourself the security there. I don’t belong to any party but Infact we will be here making unnecessary noise campaigning for someone’s father but ask yourself how secured are u if the Junior police is not secured?
