The Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command has invited chief of Assin Adadientem to assist them in locating the suspect who allegedly defiled a four-year-old girl.

The chief is said to be the suspect’s cousin, whom the victim’s mother had earlier reported the incident to.

The Police say it does not know the suspect hence their invitation to the Odikro who is related to the suspect to help with investigations.

This move comes a day after the IGP David Asante Apeatu directed that the police at Assin Fosu be investigated over their conduct in the case to ascertain if they followed due process in the case.

Meanwhile, Central Regional Commander COP David Ampa Benyin has revealed action has been initiated to sanction the investigator handling the case.

It will be recalled that Doctor’s report on the case says that the hymen of the victim is intact while there were no aberrations or signs of struggle on the girl.

However, the police in the town believe it is the community members at Assin Adadientem who can help in getting the suspect arrested.

As it stands now, the police search is in vain because they do not know the suspect.

Meanwhile, Joy News’ reporter Richard Kwadjo Nyarko reported that the victim and her family are reported to be sheltered outside their home to avert any attack on them.

The police also believe that a further involvement of the community members in the investigation will make the search for the suspect easier since they know him.

The community members, for them, hold the key to finding the suspect who has bolted since he committed the incident.
