Former President John Mahama is now convinced the shocking defeat he suffered in December 2016, was orchestrated by God.
According to him, the defeat, which is the heaviest to be suffered by a sitting president since Ghana returned to democratic rule in 1992, is to afford Ghanaians the opportunity to compare the performance of his administration to that of the current regime led by Nana Akufo-Addo.
Sometimes we set our hearts on something but God won’t give it to you, however, whatever God does is good, Mr John Mahama said in the Akan dialect to party followers at Awutu Senya in the Central Region, Wednesday.

Nana Akufo-Addo then the opposition leader surprisingly secured a resounding one-touch victory by polling 53.85% of total valid votes cast against incumbent John Dramani Mahama who managed 44.40%.
The party also outperformed the governing National Democratic Congress in the parliamentary election by increasing its seats from 122 to 169 to form the majority, while the NDC saw its representation drop from a majority 148 to 106.
But the former President, who has set the next four days to tour the region to kickstart his campaign to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) going into the 2020 elections, related the outcome of the 2016 polls to the weights of alcohol and water.
He grounded his argument on the fact that alcohol weighs less in volume than water indicating that it is when one carries the two that the difference in weight can be ascertained.

Therefore, the victory for the NDC come 2020 is certain, he told the excited gathering who responded simultaneously with cheers.
Mr. Mahama is kick-starting his campaign to lead the opposition NDC in the 2020 presidential election from Awutu Senya East and West in the Central region.
He is expected to visit other constituencies during his four-day campaign tour of the region to share his vision with delegates and seek their mandate to lead the party.
