A 14-year-old girl, Theresa Adomako Asiedu is battling life at the AGA Hospital in Obuasi in the Ashanti region after an acid bath from a 16-year-old girl over a mobile phone.

The sad incident occurred at Akrokere in the Adansi North district of the Ashanti region after the 16-year-old offered her phone as a collateral for a GH¢50.00 loan.

In an interview with Adom News, father of Theresa, Mr Justice Adomako Asiedu explained he warned his daughter to return the phone but she refused.

“She doesn’t listen to advice because I told her I was going to pay the GH¢50.00 and gave her GH¢15.00 to show my commitment in paying the money but she still insisted on keeping the phone and now this unfortunate incident,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Kwadwo Anim, Senior Medical Officer, AGA Health Foundation, has assured the girl is responding to treatment.

“Theresa is undergoing treatment and will be fine. She suffered burns on her chest, right hand and face but it did not affect the eyes,” he stated.

DSP Martin Asenso of the Obuasi District Police command, who also confirmed the incident, said they are yet to arrest the suspect.
