Former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is urging Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Enoch Teye Mensah to rescind his decision to contest as a member of Council of State.

According to Yaw Boateng Gyan, the decision by the former MP to join the race in the Greater Accra Region for Council of State elections is just like stabbing the NDC in the back.

“I’m surprised ET Mensah is contesting for the Council of State election when the NPP is in power. What advice is he going to offer a President who does not share his ideology? He quizzed.

Mr. ET Mensah’s decision to vie for the position has taken a lot of NDC members especially the leadership by surprise.

This is because the former Ningo-Prampram MP has been silent in Ghana’s body politic after he lost his seat during NDC’s primary in 2015 to Sam George.

Since the Council of State is a constitutional body with the sole mandate to advise the president on several issues, many wonder how the NDC apparatchik will advise President Akufo-Addo on national issues.

Based on this backdrop, Yaw Boateng Gyan on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Tuesday said ET Mensah might be considered a mole in government.

“ET Mensah and Akufo-Addo come from different ideological backgrounds so what advise will he [ET] give him [Nana]” he quizzed.

The former NDC National Organizer stated that the conduct of the former MP will give more credence to allegations that he is still bitter after losing the primaries to Sam George.

Mr. Boateng Gyan fear if ET Mensah goes ahead to contest and he loses the elections, it will affect his integrity in politics.
