The Ghana Library Authority has given facelifts to children libraries in five regions across Ghana to create a conducive environment for patrons.
The Children’s libraries at Tamale, Bolgatanga, Cape Coast, Sekondi, and Koforidua all had a facelift within the last quarter of 2019.
The Executive Director of GhLA, Hayford Siaw, who was present at handing over of the renovated five children libraries, emphasized the authority was committed to creating a conducive environment for reading and learning.

He noted that, “Children are very aesthetic; hence the renovations will increase children’s interest in patronizing the libraries.”
“Public libraries in recent times are quite different from the ones in the past. In the past years, we did not have a toddler section but now our refurbished children’s corners are friendly for all age groups, including toddlers,” he said.
Touching on the developments that have taken place at the Ghana Library Authority, Mr. Siaw urged staff and visitors of the library to make good use of the libraries while ensuring its maintenance.

The launch of the Children’s corners in the five regions was graced by notable personalities in the various regions including the C.E.O of Book Aid International, Paramount Chief of Cape Coast, the Chief of Tamale, Regional Educational Directors and representatives from the respective municipalities.
The refurbishment was sponsored by Book Aid International, a partner of Ghana Library Authority. Book Aid International is a UK based charity organization that provides books and support libraries in Africa and around the world.
