Treasurer for the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), George Amoako, has stated that all is set for the G8 Tournament to kick off come Saturday 6th January, 2018.
The traditional pre-season tournament is aimed at preparing the Premier League clubs ahead of the new season.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Mr Amoako said, “everything is in place. We are ready kick start the competition this Saturday”.
He also mentioned that “all the eight participating clubs are entitled to GH¢20,000 as appearance fee while the winner takes an additional GH¢10,000 as prize money”.
“The four teams that will make it to the semi’s will get GHC5,000 each while the winner gets additional GHC10,000 making GHC35,000 for the winner”, he added.
The eight participating clubs have been grouped into two zones, Northern and Southern.
The Northern Zone comprise of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Aduana Stars, Dreams FC and Techiman Eleven Wonders; while Hearts of Oak, Abusua Dwarfs, Karela FC and Medeama SC will battle in the Southern Zone.
The competition has been slated for two venues – Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi which will host teams in Group A or the Northern Zone and the Cape Coast Sports Stadium for teams in Group B or the Southern Zone.
The G-8 tournament is scheduled to start from 6th to 21st January, 2018.
