Ghana Premier League side Karela United have had their FIFA-imposed transfer ban lifted after settling an outstanding financial dispute with former player Sana Camara.

In a letter dated 20 August 2026, FIFA confirmed that disciplinary proceedings against the club had been closed after Camara, identified as the creditor in the case, acknowledged receipt of the money owed to him by Karela United.

The case stemmed from a previous FIFA ruling in favour of the player, which had resulted in the club being prohibited from registering new players until the debt was settled.

FIFA’s Head of Disciplinary, Americo Espallargas, stated that the governing body had taken note of correspondence confirming that the outstanding amounts had been paid in accordance with an earlier decision issued by a FIFA body or the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

“As a consequence, we inform you that the present proceedings against the Respondent are hereby closed and its ban on registering any new players has been permanently lifted,” the letter said.

FIFA also instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to immediately remove the corresponding registration ban imposed on Karela United at national level.

The latest development comes just days after FIFA sanctioned the club over the unpaid debt, raising concerns about their ability to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season.

The lifting of the ban means Karela United are now free to register new players once the GFA completes the necessary administrative procedures.

However, FIFA clarified that the decision relates solely to the dispute involving Camara and does not affect any other potential sanctions that may be imposed on the club.

Karela United will now turn their attention to preparations for the new campaign, with the club receiving a significant boost after resolving the matter and regaining access to the transfer market.
