The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that no betting company has been licensed to offer odds on domestic football matches as part of efforts to combat match-fixing.

GFA President Kurt Okraku announced the decision during the Association’s 32nd Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Thursday, describing it as a key integrity measure aimed at protecting the credibility of Ghana’s domestic game.

“No betting company has been licensed to place odds on domestic games,” Mr Okraku told delegates.

The decision comes amid growing concerns over match-fixing and betting-related corruption in football, with governing bodies around the world stepping up efforts to safeguard competitions from manipulation.

The GFA believes restricting betting markets on local matches will reduce the financial incentives that could encourage attempts to influence results.

The Association says the policy forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen transparency and restore confidence among clubs, players, coaches, officials and supporters.

Protecting the integrity of the Ghana Premier League has become increasingly important as the GFA seeks to enhance the competition’s commercial appeal and international reputation.

The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to begin on September 5.
