A delegation of female government appointees has paid a courtesy call on the newly enstooled Asantehemaa, Nana Yaa Achiaa II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, seeking her support for national development.
The visit was to formally welcome and congratulate the new Asantehemaa following her enstoolment, as well as explore ways of strengthening collaboration between traditional leadership and government to promote development and national progress.
The delegation was led by Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo and Presidential Staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah.
It included the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor; Chief Executive Officer of Free Zones Ghana, Mary Awusi; as well as several Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and other female government appointees.
Speaking to the media after the visit, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, said the delegation was at the Manhyia Palace to seek the blessings and support of the Asantehemaa in their efforts to promote development in the country.
“We are happy to see Nana Yaa Achiaa II as the Asantehemaa of the Asante Kingdom, and we, the female appointees, have pledged our full support to her to ensure development in Asante and Ghana as a whole,” she said.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo said the visit was also symbolic of the delegation’s recognition of the important role queen mothers across the country play in Ghana’s development.
She appealed to queen mothers to continue supporting initiatives aimed at advancing development and improving the welfare of communities.
The Deputy Chief of Staff also encouraged young women aspiring to leadership positions to remain resilient and determined in pursuing their goals.
“We all started like you, and with perseverance and determination, we are here,” she said, urging young women not to give up on their aspirations.
