The Minority in Parliament has urged the Akufo-Addo-led government to ensure the full refund of monies collected by Power Distribution Services (PDS) with interest.

To the Minority, the scandal is a deliberate mismanagement of a good project started by the National Democratic Congress to give Ghanaians an alternative power supplier.

Addressing the press in Parliament on Thursday, the former Deputy Minister of Energy and Petroleum, John Jinapor, on behalf of the Minority, said PDS has been caught in a fraudulent activity and there is no way the fraud could be corrected.

“Ensure full refund of monies and interest thereof collected by PDS during this five months period as a result of this fraudulent activity,” he said.

Mr Jinapor added that “identify and prosecute all people including government officials responsible for this fraudulent activity.”

The Minority also called for the collapse of the current Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Board and the establishment of a non-partisan one to ensure smooth running of the ECG.
