Alhassan Abubakari, the Assembly Member for the Abunyanya Electoral Area in the Nkwanta North District, has commissioned a new community library aimed at strengthening education and improving learning outcomes in the area.

The library project, developed in collaboration with Community Action Ghana, is expected to enhance teaching and learning standards by providing students with access to books and learning materials in a conducive environment.

The initiative is also expected to encourage regular reading habits among pupils and support teachers in delivering quality instruction.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Alhassan Abubakari reaffirmed that education remains his foremost priority.

He stressed that investing in educational infrastructure is central to improving academic performance and expanding opportunities for children within the electoral area.

The assemblyman further pledged to sustain efforts aimed at creating better learning conditions for students across Abunyanya.

He expressed appreciation to the Ghana Education Service (GES), traditional authorities, teachers and parents for their support and cooperation, noting that the success of the project reflects strong community partnership and shared responsibility.

He described the library as the first of several development initiatives planned for the area.

According to him, his office is currently finalising arrangements for a new toilet facility and remains committed to additional interventions, including the provision of solar lighting and a mechanised borehole for the BECE centre to improve safety, sanitation and access to water.

Community members and students welcomed the facility with gratitude, describing it as a timely and important resource.

They noted that the library will support private study, broaden access to information, and help nurture a stronger reading culture, ultimately contributing to improved academic performance.

With continued collaboration among stakeholders, the Abunyanya Electoral Area is making steady progress toward building a stronger educational foundation and a brighter future for its youth and the wider community.
