The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is said to be in advanced talks with Herve Renard for him to assume the reins of the national team.

Renard’s name has gained prominence as Egypt seeks to fill the void left by Portuguese manager Rui Vitória, who was relieved of his duties on Sunday following the Pharaohs’ poor performance in the 2023 AFCON.

Egypt exited the tournament in the Round of 16 after a penalty shootout loss to DR Congo.

Renowned for his success with African teams like Zambia and Ivory Coast, Herve Renard has attracted the interest of Egyptian football authorities.

Despite currently leading the French women’s national team, Renard is reportedly open to the possibility of taking charge of the Egyptian team. However, he remains committed to fulfilling his contractual obligations, including participating in the upcoming Olympics with the French women’s team.

As discussions regarding Renard’s potential appointment progress, former national team manager Carlos Queiroz has also emerged as a candidate in contention.

The impending decision on Egypt’s head coach highlights the country’s dedication to revitalizing its football program for international success.
