Justice Emile Short, former Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), is calling for investigations into the activities of the Board of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA).

According to him, given the latest investigative piece by investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, the Board must also be probed.

Following the suspension of the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), A.B. Adjei, there have been calls for the suspension of the Board as well.

Civil society groups, including the Ghana Integrity Initiative, are pushing for the suspension and probing of the Board.

Speaking on Corruption Watch on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Friday, Justice Short said a probe is needed to establish whether Board members were complicit.

“The role of the Board has to be investigated given the facts adduced in the investigations,” he added.

Justice Short said the lack of a concrete action on the numerous corruption allegations reported in the media over the last two years is an indication of the fact that “we are losing the fight against corruption.”

He urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to ensure the PPA saga is investigated and the culprits punished.
