Some residents of Gomoa Dominase in the Central Region where a road accident claimed, at least, six lives on Saturday say some of the deaths could have been avoided but for the slow response by the National Ambulance Service (NAS).
According to them, some of those who died at the spot of the accident could have been saved if there was an ambulance to convey them to Hospital immediately.
In an interview with Adom News, the residents said the Ghana National Fire Service and Police Officers from Winneba came to the scene without an Ambulance to convey the victims to the Hospital.
Five persons died on the spot following another deadly car crash at Dominase Junction on the Winneba-Kasoa road in the Central Region while another was pronounced dead on arrival at the same Hospital with 18 people in critical conditions.
Police sources say the accident was as a result of a head-on collision between three cars – a Benz Bus with registration number GS 8702-12, a Hyundai van with registration number, GX 2894-17 and a Taxi.
But residents in the area say the deaths of the some or all of the six could have been avoided if the NAS had arrived on the scene on time to carry the injured to the hospital.

  1. Government has the responsibility to provide more ambulances for the people of Ghana and a better condition of service for the EMTs.
    1. Inadequate ambulances
    2. Staff salaries – too poor.

  2. The absence of ambulances is really affecting many people.
The personnel is the ambulance service are trained and ready to work they don’t have the resources to work with.
They also risk their lives by exposure to diseases and accidents and yet they don’t have risk allowances.
Government should try and concentrate in equipping the service .
