The Medical Superintendent of the Kpandai Evangelical Church of Ghana (ECG) Hospital, Dr Sonlaar Joseph, has appealed to philanthropists, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), benevolent organisations and individuals to support the newly established ECG Hospital at Dambai in the Oti Region with essential medical equipment.
According to him, although the new facility is intended to provide quality and accessible healthcare to residents of Dambai and surrounding communities, it requires additional equipment to operate effectively and deliver comprehensive medical services.
Dr Sonlaar Joseph made the appeal in an interview with Adom News Correspondent, Odehyeba Owusu Job, following the commissioning of the new hospital.
He explained that the facility was established through a collective vision and commitment by staff of the Kpandai ECG Hospital, coupled with support from internally generated funds.
Dr Sonlaar Joseph disclosed that some staff members had to guarantee their payslips to secure loans to support the project, while funds generated internally by the Kpandai hospital were also channelled into the construction and establishment of the facility.
He said the various efforts, together with other forms of support, had resulted in an investment of more than GH¢6 million in the new hospital.
The facility has a total capacity of 70 beds and is expected to expand access to healthcare for residents of Dambai and communities within the surrounding areas.
Dr Sonlaar Joseph, therefore, called on organisations, philanthropists and individuals to come to the aid of the hospital with essential medical equipment.
He said such support would enable the facility to provide a wider range of healthcare services and respond effectively to the medical needs of the growing population in the area.
Traditional authority pledges support
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the commissioning ceremony and Paramount Chief of the Chunkey Traditional Area, Dasebre Nana Kwame Bonja, has commended the leadership of the Evangelical Church of Ghana for establishing the hospital in Dambai.
He said the facility would play an important role in improving access to quality healthcare for residents of Dambai and neighbouring communities.
Dasebre Nana Kwame Bonja assured the hospital’s management of the traditional authority’s support, noting that the doors of traditional leaders would remain open whenever their assistance was needed.
He, however, urged the management and staff of the facility to keep politics out of the hospital and ensure that all patients received equal and quality care regardless of their political affiliation.
The Paramount Chief also cautioned health workers against using mobile phones while attending to patients.
He stressed the importance of professionalism, courtesy and respect in the delivery of healthcare, urging staff to make patients feel valued and properly attended to.
The newly established 70-bed Evangelical Church of Ghana Hospital at Dambai is expected to complement existing healthcare facilities and improve access to quality medical care in the Oti Regional capital and surrounding communities.
