A group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Central Region has written to protest the suspension of the 1st Vice Chairman of the party in the region, Ekow Ewusi.
The group in a petition addressed to the NPP‘s General Secretary have described the suspension as victimization that is creating disaffection within the party in the region.

“It is our concern that the recent supposed suspension of Hon. Ekow Ewusi has generated and continues to generate serious disaffection and divisions in the regional executive front, permeating through the entire grassroots of our party,” the group’s letter read in part.
The group who have described themselves as concerned chairpersons of the NPP in the Central Region also said: “We think that the basis and roots of the suspension are illegal to the constitution of our party”.

Stating the basis of their protest, the group said the suspension of Mr Ewusi and other regional executives was “unilaterally first threatened and pronounced by the party’s Central Regional Chairman, Robert Kutin” on the party’s executives [WhatsApp] platform.
“We feel suspensions should not be pronounced on platforms by an aggrieved person before due disciplinary process is taken,” the letter noted.
The group has therefore asked the National Executives to “quickly and, as a matter of urgency, step into the matter to forestall peace and order in the Central Region”.
