The Ghana Health Service has confirmed that 157 cholera cases have been reported in the Central regional capital, Cape Coast.

Director of Public Health, Dr. Badu Sarkodie who revealed this in Accra, Wednesday, said despite the huge number of people infected, no death has been recorded since the outbreak on October 21.

According to Dr. Sarkodie, the national rapid response team has been dispatched to assist the region to fight the outbreak. 

He noted that the Ministry of Health together with the Ghana Health Service has also activated their surveillance schemes to deal with any suspected case.

The Cape Coast metropolis was one of the areas worst hit by the disease in 2014.
