Team Manager for Black Stars B, Edmund Ackah, has stated that Ghanaian clubs are unable to perform well in Africa due to lack of funds.
Over the years, Ghanaian Clubs have failed to make meaningful impacts in both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
Ghana’s representatives in African club competitions have often blamed their inability to perform well on the African stage to lack of funds.
Since Accra Hearts of Oak’s remarkable triumph some 17 years ago, only three times have a Ghanaian club made it into the group stages.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Mr. Ackah, said “The underlying factor is money, because we have the talent. Our clubs are unable to perform well in Africa due to lack of funds”, he said.
New Edubiase suffered from this syndrome when they fell in the early stages in their maiden campaign in the Confederations Cup following the death of their major financier, David Lamptey.
