Black Maidens head coach, Evans Adotey says his side are staying grounded despite smashing their Gambian counterparts 5-1 in their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying match played in Bakau, Gambia last Saturday.
The Black Maidens totally outclassed the Gambians with some breathtaking football which saw them race into a 5-1 victory at the end of 90 minutes.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, coach Evans noted that his side can’t afford to not take every game seriously.
“The Gambians are a good side and on a good day they can give you a run for your money. So we will not rest at all, we are going right back to work”.
According to the former Medeama SC trainer, his side will not get ahead of themselves when they meet the Scorpions at home for the 2nd leg encounter.
“We will not be complacent going into our second leg”.
“We will put together strategies to ensure that they don’t take any points away”, he added.
Ghana will host Gambia in the return leg encounter in a fortnight at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Winner of the two-legged tie will face Djibouti in the next stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for a place in the tournament to be staged in Uruguay from 13 November to 1 December 2018.
