The Aduana Family of legendary highlife artiste, Awurama Badu has appealed to the Nana Akufo-Addo led government to give their beloved relative a state burial hence her contribution to music in the country was spectacular.
In an interview on Accra-based Metro FM, spokesperson for the Aduana Family, Mavis Kwarkye Mensah said, the late Awurama Badu’s contributions to the entertainment industry is worthy of such a ceremony.
“We all the family members would be of a great honor to the government if we get a befitting burial for our beloved because she has contributed immensely to the entertainment industry. She has been a mentor, several personalities looked up to her especially female artiste. That is why we are appealing to the government to give Awurama Badu a state burial,” she said.
One Week Observation of the late Awurama Badu is on on Friday, November 3 at Effiduase Banko in the Ashanti Region.
The ‘Medofo Adaadaa’ Me hit-maker is said to have been sick for some time until she passed away at the age of 72.
Apart from ‘Medofo Adaadaa Me’, the musician is also known for popular songs such as ‘Komkom’, ‘Emelia’ and ‘Obaatan Refre Ne Mma’.
Awurama Badu was recently recognized by a non-profit organization, Values For Life (VFL), for her immense contribution to the growth of music in Ghana.
Her last public appearance was at 2013 edition of Citi FM‘s night of Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO), held at the National Theater.
The final funeral rights is slated for 17th February, 2018.
