Former Ghana High Commissioner to UK, Ambassador Victor Smith is urging National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters to vote against the current NDC executives.

According to him, there must be a total overhaul of the national executive body of the NDC.

He said the executives should be blamed for the party’s defeat in the 2016 general elections.
Mr Smith, who lost his bid for the Abuakwa North seat in the 2016 general elections said to him, the party needs “die-hard selfless people” to take over leadership.

“To be frank with you, these executives have played with the hearts of the diehard members for far too long and so it is important for them to booted out of office to make way for competent people to lead the affairs of the party,” he said on Accra-based Citi FM.

He rather accused the executives of failing to help former President John Dramani Mahama and believes that caused their defeat.

As far as the flag bearer slot of the party is concerned, Mr Smith said: “If we want to be the ones in the driving seat in 2020, our best bet is the one we put out there already. He [former President John Mahama] did so well but there were some hiccups and that probably led to us losing the elections.”
