The Police in Adieso in the Eastern Region have arrested two people suspected to have started last Saturday riot that led to the beating of one Journalist from Oman FM in Accra during the election of a presiding member.

The Oman FM journalist covering the election, Isaac Ofori, narrated that he in particular, was slapped in the full glare of the District Commander, ASP Abrefi Yeboah, and other police officers in uniform.

The angry youth, known as the Party Royals, besieged the Pentecost Church where the election was taking place, and sparked the chaos, after their preferred candidate, Eric Kwesi Mensah, did not get the required two-thirds of votes for the position of Presiding Member.

After the vote, which was tied at 19 apiece, the Electoral Commission announced a break ahead of an expected second round of voting.

But Police Commander for the area, ASP Nathan Yeboah told Adom News the suspects are currently assisting with investigations.

ASP Yeboah further assured residents of the area of their readiness to protect lives and properties.

Meanwhile Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Daffour says leadership of the party in the region will not shield any member who will take the law into his or her own hands.
