Head of Forensics Department at the University of Cape Coast, Dr Richmond Afoakwa is shocked at the four weeks deadline given to conclude the forensic investigations into the human parts suspected to be those of the three missing Takoradi girls.
He is convinced the police were pushed to give such a timeline due to undue public pressure.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Thursday, Dr Afoakwa said even the reagent for the DNA test is yet to be imported.
“The police were not expecting these skeletons so they have to import the yet-to-be manufactured reagent for the DNA, so I can’t give any timeline,” he stated.
He said the DNA, to be conducted by forensic experts in the police service, is not the routine DNA like paternity testing done in most laboratories in the country.
Dr Afoakwa appealed to Ghanaians, especially the families of the missing girls not give the police pressure as they wait for the reagent to do the DNA test.

“Police forensic lab has experts who can do this work; I’m so sure of it so let’s give them time,” he added.
