The assailant who killed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Treasurer at Takoradi in the Western region left behind the pistol used for his operation.

Chairman of the constituency, Prince Arthur Amanfo, revealed this on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Thursday.

The assailant, according to Mr Amanfo, had to leave behind his bag and other implements used for his murder operation after he was almost overpowered by the brother of the deceased.

The pistol, Mr Amanfo said, is currently in the custody of the police which he believes will be is a good lead for the police to arrest the culprit.

The NPP Treasurer was shot dead in his room at Fijai with his alleged killer taking none of his personal belongings.

The deceased, according to preliminary investigations, was shot in the head and chest while he was asleep in his room.

The late Ofori, according to Amanfo, was known to be a good character and expressed shock at the manner in which such an affable individual had to exit the world.

He described the treasurer’s death as shocking because he [Ofori] was at peace with everyone, adding that he was affable, honest and an indefatigable officer of his party.

Mr Amanfo is confident that given the information available to the police, the suspect would be arrested soon.
