Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has laughed off decision by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to open a political party school.
According to Nana Obiri Boahen, the NDC is a confused party that lacks clarity on the source of ideas thus could not fathom how such a party can impart knowledge into interested party comrades.
“I’m happy about NDC’s decision to launch a party school to train its members but my issue is what they are actually going to teach them when indeed they lack knowledge in straightening their party.
“How then do they impart that knowledge to others? They will only end up confusing themselves more” he noted.
The NDC has launched its much talked about political party school.
The Ghana Institute of Social Democracy will be an institution of higher learning and research to train mainly party comrades and other interested stakeholders in the fundamental principles and philosophy of the party.
General Secretary of the NDC who doubles as the Interim Chairman for the Governing Council of the Institute in his inaugural speech said, the school will also role out relevant programmes related to politics, social democracy and governance.
The institute he said will serve as a centre for research into changing global ideological perspectives of the social democratic tradition and realign itself with the emerging global trends in order to promote and strengthen the social democratic philosophy in Ghana and Africa.
The vision of the Ghana Institute of Social Democracy is to become an institution of choice in the study of politics, governance and social democracy in Africa, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said.
“The school shall be opened to all Ghanaians, especially cadres of the NDC, as well as all progressive political parties, civil society groups, who share in the social democratic philosophy,’’ he said.
But lawyer Obiri Boahen, indicated that, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won’t be part in the seeming troubles in the opposition NDC.
The NDC, he noted could be dissolved today and the NPP would not blink an eyelid adding that the NPP is also not bothered by the prospect of a weak opposition.
He rather urged the NDC to channel its resources and strength in resolving the party’s infighting since he believes the political school will not see any light.
“NDC is now faced with so many troubles. While some are blaming their former President of the woes in the party, others are also fighting Martin Amidu and so instead of wasting their time on the school, I think they should think of how to resolve their issues” he said on Accra based Neat FM.
