The Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong has refused to retract and apologise for ‘defamatory’ comments he made against a retired State Attorney, Ellen Kwakukume.

Mrs  Kwakukume is demanding a public retraction and an apology from the vociferous lawmaker and Salis Newspaper for deliberately distorting audiovisual images to tarnish her reputation.

She in a statement said Kennedy Agyapong and Salis Newspaper took bits and pieces of an earlier video recording to create an erroneous impression in furtherance of a campaign against investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Kennedy Agyapong and the Salis Newspaper produced a video documentary titled “Who watches the watchman” which sought to project journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas as a corrupt person who demanded bribes to exonerate people he had investigated and found to be corrupt.

The sequence of the video suggested that Ellen Kwakukume demanded and received a bribe from Anas Aremeyaw Anas to stop pursuing a case against people’s whose interest Anas was serving.

But Mrs. Kwakukume said the impression created by Kennedy Agyapong and Salis Newspaper was false.

She is, therefore, demanding an apology from the two parties within seven days and issue a public retraction of the claims to clear her name from the negative impression created.

But Kennedy Agyapong reacting to the issue on Adom TV’s morning show “Badwam” Tuesday described Mrs. Kwakukume’s statement as “bogus and useless”.

“I will even make sure Kwakukume is arrested together with Anas. She wants me to apologise, she should just shut up because she is guilty. She and her letter are all bogus and I will make sure she finds herself in hot waters.

Describing investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas as a wicked, the outspoken MP believes Anas is behind Mrs  Kwakukume’s statement therefore will not pay attention to it.

“I know Anas is the one who wrote that bogus letter. They are one, and therefore will deal with them both. I will make sure that prosecutor is arrested together with Anas. Anas is such a wicked boy. If Mrs Kwakukume is demanding an apology from me, she should rather go to Anas for that apology. These people don’t know who they are messing with” he warned.
