General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fired a salvo at former President John Mahama for suggesting that, this Christmas is the driest in Ghana’s history.

John Boadu said he is not surprised at the former President’s comment because he [Mahama] no longer has access to the national coffers.

Former President Mahama while addressing supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the Trade Fair Centre after submitting his nomination forms bemoaned the economic hardship in the country.

He said “most Ghanaian families will go through the driest Christmas they have ever experienced in the history of Ghana [due to the] excruciating economic difficulties”.

But in an apparent response on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, John Boadu sympathized with Mr. Mahama.

He explained that, the days where John Mahama’s brother and wife doled out monies like toffees to cronies during Christmas are now over so “Christmas is dry in your house”.

“the days where people cue at his[Mahama] brother’s house for cash and his wife turned into a philanthropist over night are over so Christmas will indeed be dry in his house” Mr. Boadu opined.

This notwithstanding, the NPP man said the Akufo-Addo led government has put in place prudent economic measures to bring respite to Ghanaians.

“We inherited huge deficit coupled with massive graduate unemployment but due to actions taken by a proactive leader, he have been able to end the IMF programme and employed many people” he stressed.

John Boadu is confident of massive boom of the economy and urged Ghanaians to call the bluff of the NDC and support President Akufo-Addo succeed.
