The Central Region is currently having the highest land grabbing rates in the country, Director for the Central Regional Lands Commission, Nana Kwampong Aboah has said.

Speaking to Adom News, Mr Aboah alleged that chiefs at Gomoa Fetteh, a farming community in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region were among the list of people who have grabbed lands in the numerous land disputes.

The situation he said has plunged Gomoa Fetteh and the Millennium City into turmoil in the past few weeks.

He accused some chiefs in the area of using soldiers to intimidate the rightful landowners whenever they visited their lands, a situation he described as very worrying.

We conducted a research and came out that land litigations and land grabbing are very high in the Central Region, especially Gomoa. We blame the activities of greedy chiefs and estate developers in the region”, he said.

Nana Kwampong  Aboah disclosed this when he inaugurated the Awutu Senya West District planning committee to monitor activities of chiefs selling out lands to estate developers.
