Bats have invaded Shama Health Centre in the Western Region destroying some of the structures.
The hospital according to the District Chief Executive for Shama, Joseph Amoah has been under construction since 2006 adding that it is 70 per cent complete but work has stalled for the past 11 years.
He said the bats have caused destruction in the facility.
Mr Joseph Amoah noted that major cases are referred to either Effia Nkwanta Government Hospital, or the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital as a result of the state of the hospital.
He said authorities at the hospital spent millions of cedis to spray the health centre in an attempt to chase away the bats.
Mr Amoah disclosed this when the Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu visited the hospital as part of his tour of the Central Region.
Mr Agyemang Manu on his part, said they would disinfect the hospital with to prevent the bats from entering the wards.
