A six-year-old boy (withheld) has been detained by authorities of Korle-Bu hospital over unpaid bills.

The child was admitted at the Burns and Intensive Care Unit on December 10, 2017 and discharged on May, 4, 2018.

Father of the boy, John Ofori told Adom News his son remains at the hospital due to his inability to settle the medical bills.

“My son got burnt after falling into a burning refuse pit in school at the Kraboa Methodist Kindergarten (KG). He was then admitted at the burns unit on December but was discharged on May and since then he has not been released.

“The reason is that the amount was to much so we asked them reduce it even that we couldn’t pay and they have since detained my son at the hospital” he cried.

He confirmed that they owe the hospital an amount of GHȻ9000.

But the worried father said he cannot afford to pay the bills and is appealing to philanthropists, and institutions to come to his aid.
