Police in Tarkwa have arrested four suspects in connection with the killing of a police officer, Lance Corporal Duku Nicholas during a daylight robbery which occurred at Bogoso.

Lance Corporal Duku was escorting an Indian businessman, Rajinder Singh, of Plat and Plume Gold refinery company Ltd when he was shot and killed on Sunday evening.

The officer was the only casualty in the robbery incident that allegedly involved four masked robbers.

Public Relation Officer of the Tarkwa police, ASP Olivia Adiku who confirmed the development to Adom News said the four suspects were arrested at their hideouts on Tuesday night.

ASP Olivia Adiku said the suspects, after interrogation, revealed that they were informed about the businessman’s intention by some friends in Accra and therefore decided to carry out their plans to rob him.

The suspects are; Fredrick Mensah, 32; Mohammed Dawda, 32; Bismark Opoku, 34; and Charles Kwasi, 30 years, all natives of Bogoso.

ASP Olivia Adiku said the vehicle used for the robbery, a Nissan Roque with registration number GE 411-16 which was abandoned at Oppong Valley junction near Bogoso has also been retrieved.

Meanwhile, Parents of the deceased, Madam Duku and Opanyin Duku are asking the police to expedite prosecution of the perpetrators.
