President Akufo-Addo has paid glowing tribute to Ghana’s former President of the Third Republic, Dr. Hilla Limann and  has promised to name Wa Polytechnic after him.
In his view, the former president ought to be celebrated as an eminent Ghanaian, distinguished statesman, and, above all, a patriot.

President Akufo-Addo in an address to mark the 20th anniversary of the death of Dr Limann at the Accra International Conference Centre on Tuesday, described Dr Limann as an illustrious son of the Upper West Region.
He noted that, a careful study of the life of the former President revealed a young man who, regardless of the circumstance surrounding his birth, strove to become the leader of the country.
To honour his memory, President announced government’s decision to name the Wa Polytechnic after Dr. Hilla Limann.

He said the Governing Council of Wa Polytechnic met last Thursday and unanimously agreed to the re-naming of the institution.
What was left, the President Akufo-Addo said, were the necessary Parliamentary processes leading to the change of name of the institution, adding that once that was completed; the polytechnic would be called the Dr Hilla Limann Polytechnic.
The 20th anniversary celebration was also used to launch the Hilla Limann Foundation, had the theme:  “The life of a scholar, diplomat and statesman.”
