Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a former Deputy Communications Minister under the Mahama-led administration has described Gregory Afoko’s continuous detention as an indictment on the credentials of the Akufo-Addo-led government that believes in democracy.
He believes Mr Afoko has become a victim of personal vendetta trial due to the bone of contention that happened between President Nana Akufo-Addo and Paul Afoko, an elder brother of Mr Afoko, who is standing trial for the murder of Adams Mahama, the Upper East regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam Show, the former Deputy Communications Minister urged Ghanaians to join in the condemnation of Mr Afoko’s detention.
“Afoko’s detention is an indictment on the credentials of the NPP and you don’t need a soothsayer to tell you it has some political inclinations. He is being trailed on mere allegations because the State has not been able to provide any evidence against him,” he said.

“This is a dangerous thing for every Ghanaian and it is obvious this government has become an apostle of misgovernment, mistreatment and human right violations.
“This is firmly under the administration of the Ghana Bar Association and they must rise and condemn this. Amnesty International has done their part,” he said.
