Construction work has begun on the Jasikan-Hohoe road following reports by Adom FM’s ‘My Road My Vote’ team that visited the area.
Prior to the visit, the 227.5km stretch was in a deplorable state due to the absence of a drainage system in the area.
The Eastern Corridor road, which was described by some residents of the area and its environs as a death trap, is being worked on after the report.
According to Simon Yaw Ashiabi, General Foreman of Rolider Engineering Limited, (a company in charge of the Jasikan-Hohoe road), the stretch is currently undergoing reshaping and maintenance.
“We started working on the road four days ago and will proceed to Hohoe, Lolobi and Asanko after the first phase is completed,” he disclosed
He further revealed that road maintenance is expected to be completed in two consecutive Sundays.
In a one-on-one with Adomonline.com‘s Gershon Mortey, Mr Ashiab said the company has been allocated a production work targeting 500 metres of the stretch daily.
Additionally, the General Foreman said he is awaiting orders from the company to increase work target from 500 metres to 1 kilometre daily.
‘My Road My Vote’ is a campaign launched by Adom FM to urge the government to improve the state of roads in Ghana.
