The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested a man in connection with the alleged theft of household items from a building at Chochoo near Bintrase in the Awutu Senya West District.
The arrest followed the interception of a Kia Mighty truck loaded with the suspected stolen items during a night patrol on September 26, 2026.
The truck, with registration number GN 5255-23, was found carrying a king-size mattress, kitchen cabinet, deep freezer, microwave, stove, 19 sets of framed aluminium-glazed windows, nine sets of electric sockets, a knapsack spraying machine, 10 TV sockets and two floodlights.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the items were allegedly stolen from a building at Chochoo.
According to the police, one of the suspects, Patrick Haziel, told investigators at the scene that the items belonged to Mohammed Sulemana.
He reportedly said Mohammed Sulemana fled after spotting the approaching police patrol team and that he had only been contracted to transport the items from Awutu Bentum to Tuba, where Sulemana resides.
Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Nchor, said further investigations led to the arrest of Mohammed Sulemana.
According to him, Sulemana allegedly admitted stealing the items and hiding them at Bentum before engaging the driver to transport them.
Mohammed Sulemana has since been remanded into police custody and is expected to reappear before the court on October 12, 2026.
