The Administrator of the Ghana Sports Fund, Dr David Kofi Wuaku, has called on Ghanaians to put aside their differences and rally behind the Black Stars ahead of their match against The Gambia.
According to Dr Wuaku, the match represents more than a contest for three points, describing the national team as a unifying force for the country.
“Today, the whole country will be on the same side. The trader in the market, the student in the classroom, the farmer in the village, and the worker in the office: for ninety minutes, we all wear the same colours,” the Administrator said.
He urged supporters to turn out in their numbers, fill the stadium, and cheer the team with pride while maintaining a positive atmosphere from the opening whistle until the end of the game.
Dr Wuaku also highlighted the role of the Ghana Sports Fund, describing it as evidence of the country’s commitment to investing in its people.
“The Fund exists to build futures. Football does the same thing in a different way. It gives young people hope, and it shows them that talent and discipline can carry them far.”
According to him, the players need the confidence and support of Ghanaians, particularly as they carry the expectations of millions of supporters.
“Support is not only for the days we win. A team that feels the nation behind it plays with a different heart.”
He concluded with a call for Ghanaians to extend the unity displayed during national team matches beyond football.
“We argue about many things in Ghana. But when the national anthem plays, we stand together. Why can’t we carry that spirit into everything we do?”
