Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has returned to training with Al Shabab after recovering from the injury that has kept him out since August.
The 33-year-old sustained the injury during Al Shabab’s Saudi Pro League meeting with Al Riyadh last month and has been undergoing rehabilitation since then.
Partey has now stepped up his recovery by taking part in intensive training sessions under the supervision of Al Shabab’s fitness coach.
It remains unclear whether he will be involved when Al Shabab face Al-Ittihad later on Wednesday.
His return to full training will nevertheless be welcomed by Ghana, with the Black Stars preparing for their opening matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Ghana begin their Group C campaign away against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on 24 September before hosting The Gambia in Accra three days later.
Partey remains an important figure in Ghana’s midfield and, having recovered from his injury, is expected to be included in Carlos Queiroz’s squad for the two qualifiers.
The Black Stars missed out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and will be looking to secure a return to the continental tournament when the 2027 qualifying campaign begins.
